When I'm looking for an orphaned blog, I have to say that for every orphaned one I find, there are 10 to 100 that are alive and running.
Searching in the sci-fi genre there are piles and piles of geeks still going strong with blogs.
Some of the orphaned blogs you find out there are really put together and it's clear someone spent a lot of time on them, but then let them go unused for over 2 years.

History of Graphic Design~Jackie Sanch
From Endless Summers to New York City.
Some bloggers take years before they start to fade away, while others simply disappear abruptly after a few months.
This blog was a nice look at some different graphic designs.
The author posted about once a week for four months, then stopped and hasn't returned in 5 years.
Really makes you wonder, did something happen to the person, did they simply decide to stop posting or did they just forget?

Aly Girl: A World of Words and Pictures
The best blogs start with good intentions.
In fact, part of the reason it stinks that blogs get orphaned, abandoned or lost
is that very often you'll find a blog that's EXACTLY what you're looking for,
only to discover that it is a dead blog and the author has completely left it behind.

Looks like it's mostly a blog about someone's personal life, which I think are very common for people to start and then when they get busy with other life things or switch to facebook / twitter they leave it behind.
Maybe she'll notice we linked to her and it'll inspire her to start blogging again. :)

Black Plate Special
Just a tip for all the bloggers out there...
You really don't ever need to start your blog posts with something like "Sorry I haven't posted in a while"
Quite often when you find an old orphaned blog, you'll see that the last 5 posts all start with "Sorry I haven't posted in a while" and then a 3 month span in between each post.
Just make your post!

If you haven't heard of the term "ana" it's a nickname for "anorexia".
So this blog was all recipes in support of the anorexic super skinny waif lifestyle.
The author also had another blog, which was orphaned in 2011.
